Artist Statement

My work as an artist is currently focused on learning to capture the form of nature, urban settings, and animals as I see them in life and through photos. I distill the subject into its most basic shapes and lines to realistically portray the look and feel of it.

Many of my pieces are inspired by my own experiences in nature and the backcountry. Nature is where I go for inspiration. Photos that I take on backpacking trips are especially interesting to me because I can take that photo and make a drawing of it to show people a place that they may never see in person.

I create art as a mixed media artist, and my materials are fine tip ink pens, alcohol markers and digital programs such as Procreate and Photoshop. I am always learning to use new mediums to better represent my subjects. I love creating art and am dedicated to improving my craft and exploring new subjects, techniques, and places.
